Sightseeing
on the islands is based pretty much on the individual. Road Town, the capital of
the BVI's is located on the southern shore in Tortola. This being the central
administrative and business center of the Territory. Here one will find quaint
shops, boutiques, banks and the Government House. There's also Mount Sage, the
National Park, or driving through the country side where one will see banana and
palm trees, and jagged mountain peaks which rise above beautiful sandy beaches,
Virgin Gorda, a favorite haunt of vacationers and yachtsmen, is also well-known
for "The Baths", a unique rock formation with dimly lit seacaves,
house-size granite beldozors strewn about the countryside. There are some twenty
beaches to be found, the most popular ones being Devil's Bay, Spring Bay and
Trunk Bay. On the southeast tip of the-island there's also an
abandoned cooper mine to explore.

Cuisine
The
islands offer a variety of foods, from local West Indian dishes which rely
mainly on fresh seafood to Continental cuisine with a selection of specific
European specialties.

Entertainment
Most
hotels and resorts have local music, dancing several times a week. There are
also a host native pubs which provide entertainment on a regular basis.
The sounds of reggae, steel band, latin, calypso/soca and fungi
(traditional scratch band music) resound throughout the night.

Shopping
Although
the British Virgin Islands are not free-ports, there are still bargains to be
found. There's quite a variety of quaint shops and boutiques in Road Town,
Tortola and Spanish Town, Virgin Gorda to browse through.

Sports
Some
of the Best sailing in the Caribbean is done around these islands. Modern
marinas have a full supply of yachts, sailboats and fishing boats that may be
chartered. Beautiful reefs and shipwrecks, provide the underwater setting for an
exciting scuba diving or snorkeling expedition. Windsurfing and tennis are two
of the most popular sporting activities and are available at the major hotels.
